The Domicile

A Home for the deaf and deaf-blind people

The Domicile

The Domicile is a collaborative project between the Monastery and German organization, which was founded in October 2020. This was an inspiration of Michael, a young man who was deaf but also suffers from Usher Syndrome, which means he will lose his vision and there is no way for medical help.

There are no good chances for young people like him for having a good life, in collaboration with the Monastery; they founded the organization Domicile which has the goal of providing Deaf-blind and deaf people from complicated family situations at home.

Domicile is planned to become a litttle village where people communicate in Sign Language without barriers. The young people in the domicile live together like a family and work in different fields like gardening, soap making, rearing animals and birds; they also work in our carpentry and Eye Hospital. They supply their products to the neighbourhood.

At the moment it is a home to 3 girls and 4 boys. Per now, it is full and there is ongoing work for extension of a new block that will house more members.
